Veganuary Week 5

The end of Veganuary 2026!

I really enjoyed it, it all went so much smoother and easier than I thought it would. I tried lots of new food, which is surprising as I would label myself as a fussy eater. I’d say the best food I tried this month would be mainly from takeaways and fast food. Oowee in Bristol was such a good find (I actually went there yesterday) and there’s a local chinese takeaway which serves really good vegan food (I had their salt and pepper tofu chicken the other day). It was a bit disappointing to see that not many places advertised or even did a Veganuary range this year. Aldi had the best range, with their vegan cookie dough ice cream being one of the best vegan finds of the month.

I managed to find some really good vegan chocolate which was probably one of the hardest things to find. There’s vegan mini eggs and creme eggs which actually taste pretty similar to the Cadbury originals, I had quite a few of the vegan creme eggs in the past week or so I must admit! It wasn’t all fast food though, I did try healthy options and tried to eat more fruit and veg where I could.

I read a handful of books on veganism, mainly ones by Ed Winters, which really helped me make my choice to stay vegan beyond January. It was upsetting to see the abuse animals go through just so people can use, abuse and then eat them. I really don’t want to be a part of that anymore.

I’m so glad I did Veganuary, and I’m really looking forward to a vegan lifestyle going forward 🌱
